A team of specialists from Redbourn Express Services delivered and installed a brand-new optical table in our low temperature laboratory today. The table will soon support our newest experimental device, a closed-cycle cryostat from ICE Oxford capable of reaching temperatures as low as 300 mK. The set-up will be used to investigate wave dynamics in thin films of superfluid helium using ultra-sensitive optical methods currently under development in the very same lab.
